MAVKA in ancient Ukrainian mythology are the souls of dead children or beautiful young girls with long flowery hair, wearing thin white shirts. They could be found in the forest, at the crossroads, in the fields🌾

However, they looked like girls only from the front, and had no skin on the back, so their insides were visible from behind. They did not cast a shadow. And when they ran on the grass, it did not sway under their feet🌿

Mavkas took revenge on people for their early death, so they knocked them off the road and drowned them in swamps. They could tickle me to death. They often lured the little ones to themselves and killed them, just like mermaids.

The seagulls knew a lot and were endowed with magical abilities (again, like the mermaids), so people treated them very respectfully, especially during the Green Festival: they brought sacrificial bread to them and put it on the field, because it was the seagulls that contributed to the harvest and warded off evil.

I have always admired this character from our native Ukrainian mythology. Because seagulls are very charming and very beautiful. They wore flowers in their hair, so I decided to make these magical crowns so that every girl who wears them can feel like a real Mavka 🖤🌿🌸🌿
